RapidGrille Model 676

The Advanced Performance Security Grille offers excellent performance for commercial and industrial customers who have been searching for something sturdy, safe, high quality and low maintenance.

Every client's security grille needs are different, but this new product developed by Overhead Door can be useful for a wide variety of business, including parking garages, loading docks, performance venues, manufacturing facilities or retail businesses -- basically anywhere that a client needs to make a location secure but also wants a grilled that's safe yet simple, and easy to minimize when it's not needed.

Some of the state-of-the-art features of the new product include:

  • A spring-less design which can minimize the need for routine maintenance. Wear and tear from regular openings and closings can be commonly seen with spring-loaded grilles.
  • Exceptional safety features that include a built-in stop brake that prevents uncontrolled travel plus several sets of sensors plus a reverse motor, which can all prevent damage and entrapment.
  • A 2-year limited warranty on door components and a 5-year limited warranty on the motor.
  • High-quality construction which includes high-strength links, galvanized solid-steel rods, plus aluminum links and spacer tubes.
  • A high-cycle drive and gear system that's always smooth and doesn't jerk or jolt while the grille is in operation or when it begins or ends its cycle.

RapidGrille Model 676 customers can choose a straight lattice pattern or optional brick pattern, and can also select a complete steel curtain; a powder-coated curtain; or a grille which contains aluminum links and spacer tubes.

Grille controls and operation details can be found right at your fingertips, in the form of an interactive panel that displays info about the opening and closing cycle, a closing timer, plus any helpful system diagnostics.

Foeng Tjong, Overhead Door's commercial product manager for rolling products, said the Model 676 has been engineered to perform at high levels over long periods of time.

Preventative Maintenance Plans For Overhead-Doors

Posted by Overhead Door Expert on Sep 5, 2013 8:05:00 PM

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE PLANS

Sectional Steel Doors

WHY IS A MAINTENANCE PLAN FOR OVERHEAD-DOORS SO IMPORTANT?

The Overhead Door Company strongly recommends a regularly scheduled preventative maintenance plan for commercial overhead doors.  Our preventative maintenance plans improves operational efficiency, safety, and reliability.  Overhead Door preventative maintenance not only decreases costly downtime by preventing some types of industrial door malfunctions, it can also decrease repair expenses over the long term.  Scheduling commercial doors maintenance regularly reduces the need for emergency repairs to overhead doors.

WHAT DOES PREVENTATIVE PLAN ENTAIL?

Preventative maintenance is focused on keeping your overhead doors in peak condition at all times, instead of only performing maintenance in response to a needed repair.  Among other things, preventative maintenance includes keeping the track surfaces of the overhead door clean and free of obstructions, grease, and oil, making certain bolts and fasteners are correctly tightened, and addressing any damage or wear and tear which has occurred over time. The door surface and hardware should also be checked on a regular basis, to maintain the functionality of the roller assembly, bottom seal, hinge points, and other elements.  The counterbalance should also be examined periodically to ensure that the drum, cable, torsion spring, shaft bearings, set screws, and collars are working as intended.  Some elements may need periodic lubrication, while others may need tightness adjustments or replacement due to corrosion.

WHY SCHEDULE PROFESSIONAL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE?

Overhead doors include a number of elements which can be under high spring tension, including bottom fixtures, cables, drums, pulleys, shafts, and brackets and only a trained service person should attempt repairs to these items.  Winding, repairs, and spring adjustments must also be completed by trained service professionals. In addition to these repairs and adjustments which can only be completed by trained professionals, it’s also wise to have a professional technician perform regular preventative maintenance because professional technicians have extensive experience in identifying the potential for problems before they have a chance to occur.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE BE SCHEDULED?

The frequency with which a customer schedules service technicians to perform preventative maintenance on their industrial doors or other equipment will vary according to the climate and other conditions under which the door regularly operates.  Some preventative maintenance may be required monthly, while other types of maintenance should be undertaken every three to six months. To determine the best preventative maintenance schedule for your overhead doors or loading dock equipment contact The Overhead Door Company of The Meadowlands & NYC for a consultation.

Aluminum Doors at Dune Studios - Success Story

Everyone knows that aluminum sectional doors are a functional way to secure your building, and allow easy entry or loading/unloading of large items or even vehicles. However, if you are looking for form as well as function, take a page from the books of Dune Studios.

The Overhead Door Company of the Meadowlands & New York City had the pleasure of working with Dune Studios recently on a large renovation project. Dune Studios is a full-service studio offering photo shoots, equipment rental and other related services. Because of this, the company does need to portray sophistication with every aspect of their facility.

Our team of experts helped them choose the right commercial doors for their studio that would allow for ease-of-use, but at the same time would bring to mind the modern, sophisticated look that the rest of the facility demonstrated.

They selected an aluminum glass door that perfectly matched the rest of the studio, and makes the perfect backdrop to the type of high-fashion photo shoots that Dune Studios is known for in the industry.

Difference Between Insulated and Non-Insulated Sectional Doors

Posted by Overhead Door Expert on Jul 24, 2013 5:17:00 PM

Difference Between Insulated and Non-Insulated Sectional Doors

When you are shopping for commercial doors, the sheer number of choice can be a bit overwhelming. One of the options you may be drawn to are sectional doors. However, even within this industrial door category, you are left with a couple of options. Should you choose an insulated or non-insulated door? Learn more about the two different options and determine which will be the best option for your loading dock, storage area or other commercial door needs.

Sectional Doors

Insulated Sectional Doors

Insulated sectional steel doors are ideal for any business that requires temperature control. This would include facilities such as warehouses, cold storage units, firehouses, restaurants and even municipal buildings. These commercial overhead doors can work to keep cold air out too. This is ideal in the cold New Jersey Winters! Finally, there are other benefits to using an insulated door too. They are generally quieter and sturdier than the non-insulated types.

Non-Insulated Sectional Doors

While insulated doors are normally a preferred option. There are certain instances that you may choose one of these non-insulated doors. The up-front cost is often less; however, this may be reduced by the increased energy bills that occur when you have non-insulated doors. The most important thing is to make the right choice for your particular business.

When it comes time to purchase a sectional steel door for your place of business, it is important to be well-informed. Spend some time browsing the options available here at the Overhead Door Company of the Meadowlands and New York City.
