What is a Mechanical Dock Leveler?

Posted by Wilford Ordoñez on Fri, Jun 24, 2016 @ 10:08 AM

If you utilize a loading dock as a part of your operations, you want to ensure you have maximum flexibility and full functionality for this vital work area. In most cases, that means accommodating many different types of trucks, with different bed heights. This reality makes it a necessity to utilize adock leveler that provides efficient and safe access for those multiple truck sizes.

A dock leveler is designed to compensate for the difference in height between your loading dock and the bed of the vehicle offloading or loading product. This can require you to lower the surface to provide a safe and reliable walk down to a trailer or truck bed. There are three basic types ofdock levelers:

The mechanical dock and pit leveler is the unit that has the lowest lifetime operating costs, and is very easy to service and maintain. You can findmechanical dock levelers that fulfill a range of applications and offer different capacities and sizes.

When to Replace Your Dock Seals? | Serving NJ & NYC Area Since 1981

Posted by Ranee Patel on Tue, May 31, 2016 @ 08:56 AM

As I visit customers, especially those who are in the food and beverage industry, I see a lot of dock seals or dock side pads that are ripped and torn. So, when is it a good time to replace your dock seals?

Broken Dock Seal

While the dock seals are in place and they somewhat serve their basic function of protecting the building during loading/unloading of deliveries, many facility managers or building owners do not realize this is a environmental and health hazard.

 Broken Dock Seal

When the dock seal material is ripped and foam is exposed, as displayed in the pictures above, rodents sneak in and  chewing through the foam and create nests inside the foam. For any industry, especially food and beverage, this is a health and safety concern as this allows easy access for rodents to slowly enter your facility.

If this is the current condition of your dock seals, please consider having them replaced. For more information, please visit:     http://www.loadingdock.com/install/dock-bumper-repairs-service-replacement-installation-0-1

Repairs for Loading Dock Equipment

Posted by Wilford Ordoñez on Wed, Apr 20, 2016 @ 10:40 AM

Loading dock operations are a critical part of the operations of many firms. Whether shipments go out and come in once or twice a day or a 24/7reality, delays represent unacceptable expense and disruption.

Because of this central role played by loading docks, a major effort by many suppliers has produced a number of very useful pieces of equipment. For example, the loading dock leveler significantly expands the functionality and flexibility of the standard loading dock and makes operations more efficient.

Additionally, there is enhanced safety and productivity when such a dock is installed and maintained properly. The concept of a dock leveler is so useful there are now a number of options to match your company’s specific needs. These include:

Ensuring Long-Term Durability and Reliability

Whatever type of loading dock leveler and loading dock equipment you choose, there are a number of basics that will make your decision better over the long-term. These include:

At Overhead Door Company of The Meadowlands & NYC we work only with proven vendors who focus on quality in the design and construction of each item of equipment.
  • No compromise on installation. It takes meticulous attention to the specifications and standards of manufacturers, and we have factory-trained, experienced installers who get the job done right the first time.
