Fire Door Systems - General Features & Benefits

Overhead Door Company of the Meadowlands & NYC offers a wide array of rolling steel doors to meet the most demanding fire safety standards, unusual opening sizes and discerning aesthetic requirements.

Our fire-rated doors are designed to close automatically in the event of a fire or alarmed event. They are available for both, service door and counter applications in commercial, industrial, institutional and retail uses.

We have a wide range of sizes and styles. Our doors meet or exceed industry fire safety testing standards including Underwriters Laboratories (UL & ULC), Factory Mutual (FM), New York City, and the State of California (CSFM) requirements, offering a reliable fire protection for your business.

Our fire doors close automatically under governor control after separation of fuse link. UL recommends a 165°F (74oC) fuse link for ambient conditions of 100°F (38oC) or less, or a 212°F (100oC) fuse link for ambient conditions over 100°F (38oC)
the guides expand upward during a fire.

Some of the additional fire and smoke protection options to give customer more extensive protection are:

  • Fire Sentinel: The Fire Sentinel® is a UL-listed, fail-safe, timedelay door release device that controls a fire door’s closure in an emergency condition. A variety of Fire Sentinel® models and a number of optional features permit customization of any fire-rated door to the level of protection required for your specific application.
  • FireLite®: FireLite® vision lites are available in 4-hour, 3-hour, and 11⁄2 hour labeled rolling fire doors to provide visual access through the door’s curtain slats.
  • Smoke Detectors: Photoelectric or ionization types, with or without heat detector. Requires the use of a Fire Sentinel® release device.
  • Smoke Seals: Brush-type smoke seals available for applications which have requirements for smoke retardation.
